It's time to start with the pretty!

This is a journal for my jewelry creations; A photographic chronicle of what I have made.

Most pieces are also for sale. If you're interested in purchasing something, please comment and I'll give you some more information.

I just like to make pretty things that I can share, so please look and have fun!

I have an online shop if you would like to peruse what I have up for sale:

I've been trying my hand at found object jewelry. Delving into the plethora of things my Papap left behind.

So far I'm pleased. )

It seems posting in the Steampunk communities payed off. I owe my sale to that. I also have some keys coming with which to experiment.

I'm still waiting for the rest of my jewelry to arrive. When it does, there will be a large update here and at my online shop.

I made this little piece in an attempt to try the "Steampunk" style. I believe I'll use it as a belt chain.

I really do have the best boss in the world. I work in a bead store part-time, but I haven't been able to work in several months due to health reasons. But yesterday my boss gave me a strand of Smokey Quartz just to say she is still thinking of me. The beads are really beautiful: faceted roundels that are at least AA. I combined them with some Smokey Quartz nuggets I had and made myself a little something pretty.

Shiny Necklace )

Unfortunately, my commissions did not go over well as I hoped so I plan to list some of them in my shop. I re-photographed the Snakeskin Jasper and Tree Agate Necklace.

I was commissioned to make several necklaces. It's for someone that I've never met before, which always unnerves me. I like to get a sense of a person if I'm doing something customized for them; not to mention skin tone, coloring, all those important things. Anyway, I like the necklaces. If they don't like them, maybe I'll keep one or two.

Not particularly good pictures )

My eyes still are not very good, so I have trouble stringing beads. Unfortunately that means that my commissions will take longer, luckily the buyer is understanding. Surprisingly, I can work with wire for short periods of time. This has resulted in some interesting projects with which I've been fiddling.

I think it's partly a good thing; It's allowed me to use materials I haven't used it a while. It's good for my creativity to spice things up every now and then. My jewelry making comes spurts of heavy activity and then a few hours of resting my eyes. I didn't realize how much I like working with wire and chain; by nature these project take longer. Oh well, they're fun!

I've done a couple of more photo-shoots, so I'll be posting the new pictures in increments. First up are my pictures of earrings. These pictures are by far my most experimental.

Earring Pictures )

I think I might experiment more with incorporating nature into my pictures. I kind of like the effect, at least with earrings.

Etsy Update: I currently have 13 items up for sale. More will be going up shortly as I finish uploading my pictures and can think up interesting descriptions. I also added more pictures to items I had already listed.

I've uploaded all of the pictures my current jewelry here onto Flickr. On the most part, I am please with the pictures I took on the black velvet background. The white background did not turn out well, most of the pictures do not reflect the true appearance of the piece, I made a mistake with the lighting. I did not believe that lighting a white background would be more difficult than black. Well, I learned my lesson. I also do not like how the pictures of the earrings turned out.

I plan on retaking the pictures that I do not like. I may just re-shoot everything. I've decided I need more pictures of my pieces anyway. Especially since I am in the process on creating an Etsy store.

This is what I made for my store banner:

I am proud of the things I make. With every piece I finish I run around eagerly displaying it to anyone who will look. I suppose that this journal is an extension of that act. However, it is also a story of my creative process; as much for my benefit as those who care to look.

I have of few of the pictures of my jewelery creations to share with you today. These are some of the matching earrings and necklace sets that I've made.

Care to come and see? )
